Local Intern Volunteer Program
The core workforce of KHEN is local people. It is KHEN's aim to train local people through our intern program to give unskilled or newly qualified individuals a chance to learn a profession and build up their skill level. This will provide the intern with core skills for future employment.
Our local intern programs typically last one year and may result in a full time position with KHEN there after. A number of our interns are now permanent staff and some have even progressed into more senior roles. Our past and current interns have been a great asset to us! |
There are typically 2 types of Intern opportunities -
We place individuals locally, so for example, normally an individual that lives in Samlout would be placed on our Samlout project, meaning they can continue to live and work locally in Samlout.
We don't encourage interns to join us at the consequence of dropping out of school. If you are currently at school please aim to finish your education there.
As a disability and minority inclusive employer we encourage individuals with a disability or from a ethnic minority group to apply.
- Office based staff opportunities in Battambang city - project support staff - involving working with finance systems, administration, logistics, law, monitoring and evaluation, and activities to support child rights.
- Field based project staff working mainly in the rural areas of Rukhak Kiri or Samlout. Field staff responsibilities can include:
- Assistance in creating and fulfilling project plan
- Community development activities - e.g. facilitating school / community meetings, training and workshops
- Traveling by moto to rural and remote schools (in hard to reach areas) on a weekly basis
- Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities - e.g. data collection etc
- Supporting financial operations - ensuring expenditure is completed and cleared bi-weekly
- Supporting child rights - e.g. raising awareness on child rights and intervening and reporting on any child protection issues.
- Teamwork
