Management
KHEN's Board meets four times per year. The Board provides strategic direction, monitors the organisation's performance, provides advice and makes sure that KHEN follows appropriate governance practices.
Managing Director Bunlee Khun oversees the daily operations of KHEN. In making decisions, he is assisted by both the board and technical advisers.
Our staff travel between project locations and the Battambang city based office. They provide direct assistance to projects as well as relevant support in the management of the organisation and projects in line with funder and NGO accreditation requirements and good practice.

A Note from Managing Director Bunlee
KHEN – Khmer NGO for Education - is a local Cambodian NGO that works with children (including children with disabilities) in rural & remotes areas of Battambang Province (Samlout and Rukhak Kiri). Access to education in these remote areas is problematic, meaning children living in these areas don’t have the same opportunities as children living in urban areas. Our long-term Strategic Plan focuses on good governance and establishing a Rights-Based Approach and Education Approach to our work with a special focus on Child Rights and Quality Education.
We work not just in schools and with children, but also with local communities, with local authorities and the government, as all adults are responsible (or duty bearers) for ensuring child rights are respected and fulfilled. Issues that KHEN works closely on in communities and aims to improve include – children dropping out of school, lack of schools or schools in poor physical condition, lack of inclusivity for disabled children and minority groups, lack of teachers, lack of teaching materials and unsafe or unhealthy environments. What is quality education if it is without a proper school, proper teachers, and proper facilities? KHEN strives to advocate effectively for this at local, district and provincial level. Our team is passionate about this work. As we have grown, the value of education has become more and more apparent to me and my dedicated colleagues. We believe good education opens up a path towards employment, a good livelihood and an overall better life which contributes to a better society. Every child should have the opportunity to reap the rewards of a good education which is why it is so important that KHEN concentrates its efforts in rural and remote areas of Cambodia where education standards are poor or non-existent. We are very grateful for your valued support of KHEN which enables us to continue our core work benefitting communities and rural children by providing them with early age grass roots education. |
