Where does KHEN work?

KHEN works in rural and remote areas of Battambang Province, Cambodia on the Thai border

79% of Cambodian’s population live in these area
50% of villages in rural and remote areas do not have a pre-school or primary school in their village or they have only one with very poor standards.

KHEN believes that education is the key to sustainable development and improvement in people’s lives, in particular children and youth, hence KHEN’s motto: Education is the bridge to a brighter future.
KHEN wants all children and youth to be able to access an education and reach their potential, no matter where they live.
Education refers to life-long education which is both formal e.g. school, university, vocational studies and informal e.g. parent and community workshops and learning through different experiences and knowledge sources.

KHEN adopts a rights-based, inclusive development approach, focusing on vulnerable communities such as the poor, people with disabilities, minority groups, and women.
Strong relationships and understanding of community needs enable KHEN to effectively respond to local issues, leading to increased demand for their support.
Collaboration with stakeholders is essential, ensuring project relevance and fostering community ownership and accountability.
KHEN partners with governmental and NGO organizations to promote quality education and implement Child Friendly School and Child Protection standards in Cambodia.
