2 New Schools Opened!Article Date: 08th March 2017
The 28th February 2017 saw the opening of 2 brand new primary schools (that also act as pre-schools) built by KHEN in the Rukhak Kiri district of Battambang Province! The opening ceremonies - one in the morning and a second in the afternoon - were fantastic, and the entire community turned up to show support!
Each school took roughly 6 months to build, going from plot of land to complete and painted. Our special thanks go to Annabel Jankel, Richard Wiseman and the community for their donations and contributions which made this possible, and to all of our other partners including - the school management and head teachers, the commune council, parents, our new teachers, the local government (P/DoE) and everyone else involved! 150 children in total (75 children per school, per community) now have a brand new 3 classroom primary (and pre school) school they can attend where previously there simply was no school. Our collaboration with the local government has secured on going state support, in particular with regards to providing teaching staff, for a long term and sustainable future for both schools! |
